About the Role

As a Biomechanical Engineer specializing in Automotive Accident Reconstruction, you will play a vital role in examining accident scenes, vehicles, analyzing injury mechanisms, and evaluating forces affecting occupants in collisions. Your expertise will support investigations by providing in-depth biomechanical analysis that clarifies the nature of injuries sustained in automotive accidents.

Responsibilities:

Analyze accident and injury data to determine mechanisms of injury in various types of accidents, including vehicular, workplace, and pedestrian incidents.
Perform biomechanical assessments of accident scenes, vehicles, and safety devices to evaluate the forces exerted on occupants and their resulting injuries.
Collaborate with accident reconstruction specialists to integrate biomechanical data with collision analysis.
Conduct reviews of medical records and other relevant documents to correlate injuries with the accident dynamics.
Prepare detailed, scientifically accurate reports and provide clear, concise explanations of findings to clients, attorneys, and in court settings if required.
Stay current on advancements in biomechanics, accident reconstruction methods, and relevant industry standards.
Maintain meticulous documentation of analyses, calculations, and conclusions.
Manage casework
Research technical issues
Drafting reports
Interact with attorneys, clients, and technical staff

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in biomechanics, preferably within an accident reconstruction or injury analysis environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in analyzing injury mechanisms, forces, and dynamics in accident scenarios.

  • Knowledge of injury thresholds, human tolerance levels, and relevant regulatory standards.

  • Ability to interpret and analyze medical records in relation to injury mechanisms.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to explain complex concepts in clear, understandable terms.

  • Willingness to testify as an expert witness when necessary.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified in Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) or similar certification.

  • Previous experience testifying as an expert witness.

  • Familiarity with accident reconstruction software (e.g., PC-Crash, HVE) and biomechanical analysis tools are a plus
